Cindi and Dorothy's Big Adventure

Ok... Lets Just say Cindi and her daughter will probably have A completely different version of this story. This is from MY perspective--hehe. Day 1. Cindi arrived..I picked her & her daughter up at the airport. We all were able to have dinner with our friend Shirley. I think Shirley has a picture of all of us at Chilis'. Cindi and I had both our daughters with us and talked and laughed and of course ate for a little over 2 hours. Soooo much FUN!!! THen I took them to the hotel that my husband was able to get for FREE--yeah!!! Me and Cindi stayed up chatting till about 2am! Funnnn!
Day 2. Well, TJ just could NOT get free Disney Tickets and neither could I--which is really unusual--but it happens sometimes. We felt oh soooo baaadddd about that. Sorry Cindi. :(
Soooo, we were trying to figure out What to do. We went out to Downtown Disney, Then, Nicky lost her cell phone, Luckily it was at the hotel(lobby) where we were trying to get cheap tickets--but even telling them that Cindis daughter only had 1 day to live and this was her last wish didnt help. Hey we really tried. Soooo, back to the hotel to get the cell phone. Then everyone was hungry. So we went to Chik Fil e. Then No one could decide what to do so we went baCK to the hotel again. By that time I was dizzy from driving in circles. Everyone took a much needed nap.
Nicky and I went to the pool. The hot tub was HOT!! But it was relaxing to just be outside. Nicky had to leave that night, sooo we just went to this place called OLd Town...it has old fashioned fair rides, shops and old (nice) classic cars. We went for some pretty good pizza. We all just walked around and looked in shops. Cindi even gave me a teeny education on cameras. I had no idea that a really expensive camera could make such a difference in the quality of my pictures!! Then, back to the hotel for much needed sleep.
Day 3. After much thought and a good breakfast we decided to definitely go to Disney Quest. By the time everything was decided there wasnt a lot of time to spend. Sooo I decided to pick out the hot spots. Disney Quest is a very cool 3D animation/virtual reality fun spot in Downtown Disney. If you have kids that like this and video games this is the place to be. Soooo, we were able to ride alladdins magic carpet-virtual reality, go to animation school, cindi and her daughter designed their own rollercoaster and must have loved it as they did it twice! We also got to go white water rafting, and be pirates, and ride the comics(you feel you are IN the comics). We all ate lunch at the Rainforest Cafe and had the Big Volcano for dessert which even the three of us couldnt finish. THEN.... Off to Savannah. Ok first stop--my husband T.J.s' business for a case of water to take on the road. THEN pick up Nicky. We finally got on the road and drove and drove and drove..Whew. Finally got to our hotel really late. The guy at the front desk said they overbooked the rooms with 2 beds BUT they had a suite for no extra charge for us. I thought Sweet! Nope, it was a tiny suite. The sofa bed was really only big enough for one person. Sooo, me and Cindi took the bed in the room and Nicky slept on the sofa bed and Cindi daughter made a bed out of the cushions. Nicky later called the front dest and told them what was what--I was scared we would get kicked out. Instead we got 2 Private rooms for NO extra charge!!!! Sooooooooooo
Day 4-- We were told to pack everything and they would move us in that day. We left the hotel and found our way to the Lucas Theatre to see a live performance for the musical "Carousel" I am a sucker for musicals and this was FREE!!! It was actually pretty good. Then we went to lunch at this cute little place called "Ambrosia" It looked kinda like the hangout from "Friends".
AND it was right across the street from SCAD--the school Cindis' daughter wants to go to! Sooo, after lunch we went over to the office which directed us to another office and then directed Cindi to stay and wait longer. THen, Nicky wasnt feeling too well sooo I took her back to the hotel. The luggage was already put in the rooms so I pulled the blinds and she went right to sleep. I stayed up and read some magazines I brought--soooo nice to have time to do that. She slept until Cindi came back--I amnot sure how long that was. Nicky had some studying to do sooo I decided to check on some "Ghost Tours" for the evening. All of the were 22.00-25.00 per person. Except for the Tours in the Hearse. 15.00 per person and Nicky was sooo excited to ride in a hearse. We just had to convince Cindi. I was soooo happy when she said YES! I had made several phone calls to get this and made the reservations. Ok... sooo we got ready and walked to the hotel across the street to meet out Hearse. What a treat! Ok, actually we ride On TOP of the hearse and NOT IN the hearse in an open air seating area. Our tour guide was WONDERFUL! He not only gave us all the spooky stories with much drama and entertainment BUT also the history of the city of Savannah. Soooo much Fun! All Four of Us had a good time!! Yeah!!! The night wasnt over yet! Then we walked around found a really cute store where we found a gift for Summer. and Cindi found some gifts to bring home. AND the guy told us where "The Lady and Sons: Paula Deans resturant was. it was with in walking distance. We figured..hmmm lets just try to get in. It was late but what the heck. Sooo we tried, We got IN!!!! Yeah!!! We had the buffet! Very very good! Yummy!!!! We left with our tummys full and happy and slept well all night.

Day 5. Since Cindi and her daughter had SCAD days that day. Nicky and I took it slow. She was studying in the morning and then her friend from LA contacted her and gave us a terrific deal (He works for Westin hotels and we didnt know that employees could get discounts for friends so we never asked). For the Westin in Savannah!!! We actually SAVED $$$ staying in a 5 star Hotel!! Soooo, Nicky cut her studying short, we checked out of the hotel, packed EVERYTHING, and moved over to the other hotel. THEN took the Ferry Boat over to Savannah as the hotel is on its own little Island. We also told Cindi the name of the hotel and where and I am sure I mentioned the Ferry. The Ferry Boat took about 10 min to get to the other side. Then me and Nicky took a trolley tour all over Savannah. We had the BEST tour guide AGain!! His name was "Hollywood" I am NOT kidding. Hollywood was ALOT of Fun! We saw all the beautiful churches and houses, learned some history. Even where Forrest Gump sat and where the feather flew from and where Julia Roberts saw her husband with another woman in "something to talk about" Now I have to see that movie. We even bought Girl Scout cookies from girl scouts in front of the Juliette Low house--sooo cool! Then, afterwards, we went to this place called "Paris Market" and had Frozen hot chocolate. It was so rich we didnt even need dinner. We bought some pralines also. And Nicky bought something for her friends that helped us get a room at the Westin Savannah! Then it rained and rained and we were soaked by the time we got back to the room--but sooo high on chocolate we were giddy and we were NOT gonna let some rain spoil our great day! In the room was Cindi and daughter relaxing and looking over school brochures--looking happy but tired. They ordered room service I just wanted to sleep--and so I did.

Day 6. I was a teeny bit nervous about driving home since there was a tornado watch still in effect from the night before. Sooo, me and Nicky decided to check out the workout room and spa area--of course--hehe!! Cindi had mentioned that she wanted to get some pralines also. I gave her the schedule for the ferry boat and told her we were working out so I thought she and her daughter would be going to get the pralines while we were gone. Ok, You have to take a shuttle to their workout and spa area and so we did. When you walk into the place where they have both the spa and workout areas the first thing you notice are the beautiful chandeliers and furnishings very luxurious. Then we went to the workout room and man I am out of shape--I used to do the eliptical for one hour--this time I could really only do 10 min and then 45 min on the treadmill--I was done. Ok..Sooo into the ladies Locker room. One of the attendants came over to help us. she gave us keys for the locker--inside each locker was the nicest fluffy white robes for us to wear, also a plastic head cover(I put conditioner on my hair and that on top before going into the sauna), sandals and a razor. She showed us around and they had everything you would need for your face and hair, right by the sauna was a beautiful bowl of iced washcloths to use with sliced cucumbers on top. Nice. Soooo we sat in the sauna with our robes(then changed ot towels--too hhot. and cucumbers and iced cloths on our faces feeling very pampered. :) Then we had to try the steam room which I could really only handle for about 5 min. Then showered in the nicest shower and used the body scrubs and lotion and of course my hair felt sooo nice after that deep conditioning. We continued to primp and pamper until it was obvious we had to go.
When we got back Cindi and her daughter was in the exact same spot they were when we left. Sooo, we told them of our adventure. It was sooooo cold outside I just cant believe the weather lately. Anyhow, I really wanted to take Cindi to the beach. Sooo, we headed to the nearest beach. We were 10 miles away and Cindi said she didnt want to go. Instead we had the BEST lunch at Uncle Bubbas--this is Paula Deans Brothers resturant.Very Very good. Me and Nicky shared a HUGE Seafood platter with everything.... All Steamed Oysters, crab legs, shrimp and even craw fish--which I didnt care for. It was all terrific!!! Then Nicky drove us home... we drove and drove and drove till we got to a really BAD traffic jam. So we sat. And in front of us were these Biker dudes--Real BIKERS. Ive always wanted to meet some tough biker guys. Sooo, since there was alot of police around Nicky and I decided to get our picture with these guys. Which turned out to be really nice guys, a couple sat and talked with us till the traffic jam cleared up. It passed the time and we had fun and lots of laughs. Oh AND I was cancelled from work--which is good and bad. Good that I was cancelled cause no way would I make it on time and I didnt get ANY sleep but Bad cause I really need to make $$$$. We made it home safely, TJ made us a really nice dinner and everyone got tucked nicely into bed. awwww sweet dreams.

Day 7
I think we all slept in a little bit--I cant even remember when I woke up. I just remember me and Cindi going over alot of Creative memories stuff which all looks really cool. I love scrapbooking and I think I am going to love the digital scrapbooking also and getting together with people once I learn the stuff. All day People have been popping into my head as to who would like this. I really cant wait!!! Cindis enthusiasm is sooo contagious. You can tell she knows her stuff when it comes to this and Iam so happy to be involved. I just wish we lived closer. I am so nervous to begin--but I will make myself do it!!! Then my sweet son in law took her to the airport. I slept and then they called me off--figures--i couldve taken Cindi and her daughter to the arport. BUT I was really really sleepy. Soooo, no back to life, back to reality. sigh...
